Co-owners Danny and Steve have been working at Starr Burger for decades. In 1974, their father opened the restaurant after finding and restoring the Whitby burger joint. He also owned a restaurant in Ajax, and the two businesses eventually became too much for him, so in 1991, Danny and Steve took over Starr Burger.
With over four decades in the area, Starr Burger has become a local landmark. “My father always said the restaurant was ‘born and raised in Whitby,’ just like my brother and I,” says Danny.
Cooking up exceptional homemade burgers, hand-cut fries and homemade onion rings, Starr Burger has earned its reputation as one of Whitby's premier burger joints. “We’ve won best burger in the area quite a few times over the years,” explains Danny. “The fact that we’ve been here [since 1974] and have had this much success says a lot.”
