The moment you step into the Cat Hospital of Burlington, you know you're amongst a feline-loving crowd. For one, you’ll see a lot of felines, including former strays such as Brat, Peanut, Jasmine, Toma, Willow and Botchy. You will also see Fred, a female pigeon who was saved from a shopping cart some years back. This is their home and these animals are happy here.

The place these critters call home is the converted house on Brant Street in Burlington. It’s where veterinarian Dr. Kathleen O’Connor spends her days helping, healing and advocating for her kitties and any cats that need her.

Many do need her and she’s eager to help. “It’s quite a challenge to find out what the problem is,” Kathleen says. “We have to do a lot of diagnostics ― blood testing, ultrasounds, that sort of thing ― to find out what’s going on because they never tell you where it hurts, or where they’re not feeling well.”
