As a neighbourhood restaurant, I am a frequent patron at Lone Star in Kanata. Typically very fast to seat you, they also provide unlimited nachos and salsa to tide you over while you wait. A large menu provides much selection, though the chicken quesedillas are a favourite. Can't really go wrong with this restaurant!
I used to get take-out regularly. Recently they've switched their take-out containers from plastic to metal. The metal containers cause the food to get cold extremely fast, and during the 6 minute trek home, the food is too cold to eat. Eating in the restaurant is not something I do any more, as the service is not that good. I will try the one on Baseline again and see if they're any better. I hope so, cause I need my fajita fix.
Will not go back. Once seated, it took a long time to get the food. Orders were missing or messed up. Maybe 8 is too many for some servers, but this is a repeat of two other visits. once done, they are more interested in getting you out, than serving you a coffee. Sad. It use to be so good. Not even the kids want to go back.
It's kind of sad how far down hill this place has gone. The fajitas are still decent, but not as good as they were. The queso dip has been changed to some horrible powdered version that we sent back because it was grainy and runny. The salsa is still good but nowhere near as good or fresh as it once was. The service is also poor overall. Orders showed up wrong, we had to fetch our own ketchup off another table after asking for it twice. Drink refills were not brought out till just before the bill was delivered. Even when we stopped another server to ask for stuff, we we simply told "I'll get your server", which never happened. You used to get great food and excellent service at a place a lot busier. Overall, it's just not worth the effort to go back.
This has to be the worst service ever. The food was okay and to be expected, although most Lonestar's have excellent food, so its not the chain that I have a problem with. Mostly the service was the worse experience. It took a long time to be seated and they forgot to order my husbands meal. We are all eating and my husband waited for his the whole time. Finally as we finished eating then my husbands meal comes and we had to wait for him to eat. What a long lunch! My husband was so upset he wasn't even hungry anymore and never wants to come back.
Their fajitas are awesome. However, service really sucks. Once I, my wife and 2 kids were asked to wait few seconds for a table and the lady comes back and says 10-15 minutes and when asked about her earlier comment of "Few seconds for a table?", she retorts "Oh my God". When we ask the reason for such a retort and we were ready to leave, she says "Go Go....". This is the first restaurent in Ottawa, that we were treated this badly. That girl shouldn't be a Waitress.
I have been to this place many times and the food and service are very average. I had a very bad experience when I went with my sister, who is a vegetarian. She ordered the veggie burrito and it contained meat! She sent it back and got a replacement and this one also had meat in it - big chunks. It was very disturbing and made me wonder what happens in the kitchen. The only reason I would possibly go back would be for the complimentary chips and salsa, and because the fahitas are very good.
I like the staff at the Lonestar, they usually do a great job. The food is not too bad but lacking selection for vegetarians. Overall, its expensive but alright once in a while. Not exactly health food.
While I love the food. Their customer service on the phone is a complete joke. I called to place a large order and was told that I would have to wait. I then sat on hold for over 10 mins. I guess they really don't want takeout business.
I really love Lonestar. The chips and salsa are delicious, the staff has always been excellent and the fajitas are to die for. My only complaint is a lack of selection for vegetarians, which has nothing to do with this particular location. Good atmosphere too.
Our favourite restaurant! I guess I don't notice, or don't mind the "smell" that many people are speaking of afterwards. I usually make the trip to Kanata at least once a month (it's a 30 or so minute drive for me) just to eat at Lone Star! I usually go with my boyfriend, and we have never once ordered anything other than the mixed (beef and chicken) fajitas. We usually ask for our favourite waiter, Sheriff, and he even served us once after having signed off! My boyfriend has been going since he was a child, and says he has tried nothing but the fajitas. Best I've ever had! The beef is very tender, and the flatbread/tortillas made in the restaurant are always warm and to die for! Also, the free salsa and warm tortilla chips before the meal are great! Overall - great service, usually very fast, friendly and interesting western themed atmosphere, great fajitas!
Best restaurant of all time. Great fajitas, great atmosphere, great chips, salsa & margaritas. Only drawback is the stink afterwards. Well worth it though.

I had ten mexican thingies, one was not to my satisfaction. All of my standards would be up to those of jesus, that mexican DOOHICKEY was not suitable for jesus!
